Kansas Award Winning Wines from Aubrey Vineyards
This year Aubrey Vineyards submitted 9 different wines to the Mid-American Wine Competition and all 9 wines were deemed as Kansas award winning wines.
The competition was held in Ankeny, Iowa from July 8th-10th.
The competition judges wines against wines and in addition the wines are also judged with food.
The Aubrey Vineyards Gold medal winning wine was the 2015 Catawba.
Catawba has light aromas of honey and pear, with a blood orange finish. It’s a "foxy" wine perfect to pair with a heavy brunch.
Six Aubrey Vineyards wines won Silver medals.
2015 Chambourcin
The Chambourcin is an elegant, dry, red wine. With spicy, earthy, black cherry aromas and flavors, it is similar to the finest of burgundies.
2014 Trail Rider Red
Trail Rider Red is a red blend of mostly concord grapes. It's very smooth and well balanced. It pairs well with meat and cheese platters or chocolate desserts.
2013 Trail Rider White
The 2013 Trail Rider White is a semi-sweet white wine blend by Aubrey Vineyards. It has honey and floral aromas, with pear and apple flavors, similar to a fine German Riesling.
2015 Vignoles Blush
Vignoles Blush is fruit forward, acidic, yet refreshing like a young strawberry. It pairs well with mild cheeses, nuts, salads, and desserts.
2014 Trail Rider Rose'
The Trail Rider Rose' won an award of "excellence" in the Jefferson Cup Invitational in 2015 as well. It has a sophisticated sweetness that is well balanced, cherry forward and blushful.
2014 Honey Wine
This wine is made from pure and local honey.
It is a sweet wine with soft honey aromas, sweetened grain and clover notes.
Last, but certainly not least....two Aubrey Vineyards wines won Bronze medals.
2015 Vidal Blanc
The Vidal Blanc is floral and fruity with citrus flavors. Perfect for enjoyment on a warm summer day!
2014 Apple Wine
It is very refreshing, crisp, and finishes with the tartness reminiscent of the peel of an apple. It pairs well with dishes of rich and tangy flavors.
Aubrey Vineyards couldn't be more pleased with the results and looks forward to participating again next year with more wines to introduce.
Cheers!
